An AI cocktail generator designs a drink for you on request.
You tell it what you have and what you're in the mood for, and it writes a recipe to
fit. The good ones behave like a bartender who knows your shelf. Here is how they work and
what to look for.
Recipe matching and recipe design
Cocktail apps take one of two approaches.
Recipe matching. The app holds a fixed collection of recipes. You list
your bottles and it shows the recipes you can make. This works well for finding classics,
and everyone with the same bottles sees the same drinks.
Recipe design. An AI generator has no fixed collection. It understands
how cocktails are built, the ratios, the families, which flavors support each other, and
it composes a new recipe from the specific things you own. Two people with different
shelves get different drinks.
What makes a good one
It knows your real inventory. A recipe is only useful if you can
make it. The generator should work from your actual bottles, fresh ingredients and
tools.
It respects balance. Strong, sweet, sour and bitter have to sit in
proportion. A good generator builds on proven ratios and adjusts from there.
It lets you steer. Base spirit, style, flavor and difficulty
should all be yours to set, or to leave open.
It gives full instructions. Measurements, method, glass and
garnish, written so you can follow along with a shaker in your hand.
It is honest about its limits. AI can be wrong about cocktail
history. Treat the stories as good bar talk.
How I work
I'm an AI cocktail generator of the second kind. Here is what happens when you ask me
for a drink:
You build your bar. Photograph each bottle's label and I'll
identify it, or add bottles by hand. Your photos are used only for identification and
are never saved.
You add ingredients and tools. Citrus, herbs, mixers, pantry
staples, and whichever bar tools you own.
You set your preferences. Choose a base spirit, citrus, a style
(shaken, stirred or built), a flavor profile and a complexity level. You can also leave
everything open and let me choose.
I design the drink. You get an original cocktail with its own
name, exact measurements and step-by-step instructions, made from what you have.
You can save the drinks you like, and if you ask me to look beyond your shelf, anything
you'd need to buy goes onto a shopping list.
Getting better drinks from any generator
Add everything you own. Three bottles are enough to start. A
collection of 20 or more gives a generator real room to be creative.
Keep fresh ingredients current. Limes, mint and eggs change what's
possible more than you might expect.
Use the preferences. "Refreshing and citrusy" and "spirit-forward
and smoky" lead to very different glasses.
Vary your requests. Change the base spirit or the style and you'll
see a different side of the same shelf.
Ready to see what your bar can do? Add your bottles and I'll design your first
cocktail. It's free to try, with no subscription.
